Born on August 12, 1990, in Joliet, Illinois, Breanne Marie Miller was the daughter of Robert and Cynthia Miller. She was raised in Lemont, where she grew up alongside her younger brother, Marcus. Her childhood was shaped by strong family values and a deep appreciation for the importance of community. These early influences would go on to define her adult life, as Breanne became a cherished figure not only within her family but also within the greater Lemont community.
After graduating from Lemont High School in 2008, Breanne pursued her passion for education and earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University in 2012. She began her professional career as a third-grade teacher at Lemont Central School, where she became well-known for her patience, creativity, and genuine care for her students. Breanne’s dedication to education extended beyond the classroom, where she created a nurturing environment that encouraged her students to grow and thrive.
Outside of her role as an educator, Breanne’s commitment to making a difference in her community was apparent through her volunteer work. She regularly volunteered at the Lemont Food Pantry and organized annual book drives to provide reading materials for underserved children. Additionally, Breanne led holiday toy collections through Lemont’s Community Assistance Program, making a lasting impact on the lives of families in need. In recognition of her tireless contributions, Breanne was honored with the 2019 “Neighbor of the Year” award by the Lemont Rotary Club, a title she accepted with humility and grace.
In her personal life, Breanne was married to her college sweetheart, Daniel Thompson, on June 15, 2018, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lemont. The couple shared a love for hiking, photography, and exploring the cultural richness of Chicago’s theater district. Breanne enjoyed capturing moments from family gatherings, community events, and the beauty of nature, often sharing her photographs on her popular Instagram account, @BreeScenes.
Breanne is survived by her husband, Daniel; her parents, Robert and Cynthia Miller; her brother, Marcus, and his fiancée, Olivia; as well as an extensive network of friends, colleagues, and students who will remember her fondly. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Eleanor Davis, whose passion for literacy inspired Breanne to pursue a career in teaching.
A visitation for Breanne will take place on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lemont Funeral Home, located at 111 Main Street in Lemont, IL. A funeral Mass to celebrate Breanne’s life will be held the following day, Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Morris, IL.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Lemont Community Assistance Program or the American Literacy Foundation to honor Breanne’s lifelong commitment to service and education.
