Ethan was a proud member of the Class of 2020 at St. Mary High School, where he began building a foundation of lasting relationships and a commitment to excellence. After graduation, he pursued his passion for science by enrolling in the biomedical engineering program at the University of Kentucky. Outside of academics, Ethan was passionate about sports. A devoted fan of Kentucky basketball, he rarely missed a home game, displaying his unwavering support for his team. He was also an avid supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL. His love for sports was just one aspect of his multifaceted personality, which included a deep connection to his faith and community. Ethan was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, demonstrating his commitment to both service and spirituality.
Ethan also found camaraderie in his membership with the Beta Theta Pi fraternity, where he formed meaningful bonds with his brothers. The fraternity became an extension of his family, where he embraced the values of brotherhood and mutual support. Beyond his academic and extracurricular pursuits, Ethan cherished the simple pleasures of life. He found peace in fishing at his pond, golfing with friends, and enjoying quiet moments watching movies with his family.
At the heart of Ethan’s life was his deep love for his family. As a devoted son to John and Vanessa Barnett, a loving brother to Bradyn Barnett, and a loyal friend, Ethan’s relationships were marked by genuine care and affection. His family, including his maternal grandparents Bill and Mary Lou Russelburg, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins, will forever cherish the memories of his selflessness and warmth.
Ethan’s passing is a heartbreaking loss for all who knew him. He is survived by his loving parents, his sister Bradyn, and extended family members, while also being reunited with those who have passed before him, including his maternal grandfather Charles Champy and his paternal grandparents A.D. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Ethan’s life will take place on Monday, May 12, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mayfield. The service, beginning at 2:00 PM, will be followed by burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers include close friends and members of his community, who will honor his memory and legacy.
