Authorities have confirmed that 53-year-old Bruce Scott Meade of Chester was killed instantly in a motorcycle crash on Wednesday morning. The collision occurred just after 6:30 a.m. on Carolina Avenue, a heavily traveled route during the morning commute.
According to police, Meade was riding his Harley Davidson southbound when a northbound Hyundai Veracruz, driven by 21-year-old Garnique Asianett Rodriguez, crossed the center line and struck him head-on. The impact threw Meade from the motorcycle before the SUV continued off the road and crashed into nearby trees. First responders arrived promptly but found Meade unresponsive; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rodriguez was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
