The Collingwood Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of David Galbally AM KC, a respected lawyer, community leader, and lifelong Collingwood man, who died peacefully at the age of 74 surrounded by his family.
Appointed to the Collingwood Board in 1974, David served as a Director for eight years, during which he played a vital role in supporting player welfare and offering invaluable non-football guidance to players and staff. For more than five decades, he generously provided honorary legal advice to the Club, becoming a trusted mentor and resource to administrators and fellow board members alike. In recognition of his extraordinary service, David was awarded Life Membership in 2023.
Beyond his devotion to Collingwood, David distinguished himself as one of Australia’s most respected legal minds. Known for his integrity, sharp intellect, and unwavering compassion, he made a lasting contribution to the pursuit of justice and fairness in the wider community.

“David was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose integrity, compassion, and sharp mind left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. A proud Collingwood man through and through, his passion for the Club and the friendships that came with it were an enduring part of his life. We are incredibly proud of his many achievements and the legacy he leaves behind.”
