Chicago is mourning the tragic loss of 42-year-old Dewanda Dagen, who was fatally shot late Thursday night in what police believe to be a murder-suicide.
The incident occurred near 66th and Normal, where authorities say Dewanda’s boyfriend allegedly shot her before turning the gun on himself. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Dewanda’s sudden passing has left her family, friends, and coworkers heartbroken. She was known as a devoted mother and grandmother who deeply cherished her only son and her beloved granddaughter.
Her colleagues at CTA remembered her as warm, joyful, and always willing to lend a helping hand. One coworker shared, “Rest in Peace to my coworker Dewanda Dagen. We started CTA together on January 7, 2019. My deepest condolences go out to her son, her granddaughter, her family, and all of us at Dunbar.”
