A devastating crash in Tulsa claimed two lives in the early hours of Saturday, October 5, 2025, leaving behind a scene that first responders described as catastrophic. The collision occurred around 2:10 a.m. at the intersection of 21st Street and Memorial Drive, when a Jeep Wrangler and a Dodge Dakota collided.
Investigators believe that one of the vehicles may have run a red light just before impact. The force of the crash sent the Jeep into a wooden utility pole, splintering it, while the Dodge Dakota twisted around a traffic pole and was completely destroyed.
Both men inside the Dakota were ejected by the impact. Kortlin S. Harmon was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second passenger was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His name has not yet been released to the public.
The driver of the Jeep survived and was taken into custody for questioning. Tulsa Police have indicated that both speed and possible impairment are being investigated as contributing factors. The Major Collision Investigation Unit spent several hours reconstructing the crash, gathering evidence to determine the exact sequence of events.
Residents nearby reported being jolted awake by the sound of the collision, followed by emergency sirens. In the hours since, flowers and candles have appeared at the intersection, honoring the lives of the two men taken too soon.
As the investigation continues, the Tulsa community mourns Kortlin S. Harmon and the second victim, remembering the human cost of reckless driving.
