The Carlisle community is deeply heartbroken over the sudden and tragic loss of Lucy Sytsma, a beloved daughter, friend, and cheerleader, who passed away unexpectedly during cheerleading practice. Her passing has left an unimaginable void in the lives of her family, friends, teammates, and all who were blessed to know her.
Lucy was a vibrant young woman, full of energy, kindness, and joy. She was known for her radiant smile, her positive spirit, and the way she lifted others with her encouragement and laughter. As a dedicated student, teammate, and friend, Lucy excelled not only in the classroom but also in building meaningful connections with those around her. She had a natural gift for making people feel seen, valued, and loved.
Cheerleading was more than an activity for Lucy—it was a passion that showcased her dedication, teamwork, and spirit. She inspired her peers with her determination and enthusiasm, setting an example both on and off the mat.
Her family, including her parents Josh and M. Sytsma, as well as the wider Kids Hope USA family, are surrounded by prayers, love, and support from the community as they navigate this heartbreaking loss.
Though Lucy’s life was tragically cut short, her light will continue to shine in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Her memory will be carried forward in the love she gave and the joy she spread to so many.
