It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we mourn the tragic and untimely passing of Colin Feltis, a bright and beloved student from South Texas ISD Science Academy in McAllen, Texas. Colin lost his life in a fatal car accident on the evening of October 21, 2025, leaving his family, friends, teachers, and peers devastated by the sudden and unimaginable loss.
Colin was more than just a student—he was a kind, curious, and motivated young man who touched the lives of those around him. Prior to attending the Science Academy, Colin was also a part of the World Scholars program, where he continued to shine academically and personally. His passion for learning and quiet leadership left a lasting impression on both campuses and in the hearts of his classmates and teachers.
As we grieve the loss of such a promising life, we also recognize the depth of pain the Feltis family is experiencing. In this time of overwhelming sorrow, the community is being called upon to offer its unwavering support. A simple yet powerful way to help is by providing meals for the family and their loved ones who are traveling to be with them. Our collective goal is to remove the burden of daily tasks, allowing the family to focus on healing and being together.
This loss has deeply affected not just the Feltis family, but the entire South Texas ISD community. To help students and staff navigate this difficult time, additional grief counselors have been made available at both the Science Academy and World Scholars campuses. It is a time for unity, compassion, and care as we stand together in remembrance of Colin.
We extend our most sincere condolences to Colin’s parents, siblings, extended family, friends, and educators. May you find comfort in the love and support surrounding you, and may Colin’s memory be a light that continues to shine in your hearts.
Though his time with us was far too short, Colin Feltis will be remembered always—for his kindness, his spirit, and the profound impact he made in the lives of so many.
